WASHINGTON – Con una misura entrata in vigore a partire dalla scorsa settimana, il Governo americano ha aggiornato le informazioni richieste a coloro i quali intendono entrare negli Stati Uniti attraverso il Visa Waiver Program (meglio noto come ESTA), includendo i riferimenti degli account personali sui principali social network. La decisione di includere o meno queste informazioni rimane al momento volontaria, e dunque un’eventuale mancanza non comporta l’automatico diniego dell’autorizzazione di viaggio, ma sono molti gli analisti che si chiedono qualora nel futuro una simile misura diventerà obbligatoria.
Il Governo statunitense, per mezzo del Department of Homeland Security, ha fornito poche informazioni circa questa nuova misura, limitandosi semplicemente ad aggiornare il modulo online a cui si accede per la richiesta dell’ESTA. Inoltre, altrettante (poche) informazioni sono state divulgate sui modi in cui questi nuovi dati saranno analizzati ed archiviati, come riporta il sito Politico.com che sul tema ha espressamente interrogato le autorità americane.
L’ESTA, acronimo per Electronic System for Travel Authorization, è il sistema di autorizzazione che sostituisce il rilascio di un visto tradizionale, dedicato ai cittadini di alcuni Paesi selezionati tra cui figura anche l’Italia. Questa autorizzazione non garantisce l’ingresso negli Stati Uniti, ma appunto autorizza i viaggiatori ad intraprendere un viaggio verso il Paese.
