Atlanta, USA – A partire dal 1 marzo prossimo venturo Delta Air Lines riprenderà a servire pasti gratuiti ai passeggeri di classe turistica sui propri voli da New York a Los Angeles e San Francisco. Entro la fine di aprile il servizio sarà esteso a buona parte dei voli transcontinentali operati dal vettore da New York, Boston, Seattle e Washington.
Il servizio dei pasti sui voli nazionali in classe economica era rapidamente scomparso a partire dall’autunno del 2001: con l’eccezione di Continental Airlines, già alla fine del 2001 tutti i principali vettori americani avevano rinunciato a servire pasti su tutti i voli eccetto quelli transcontinentali. Nel giro di pochi anni anche su quelle rotte più pregiate il servizio era stato eliminato. In seguito alla fusione con United Airlines, Continental si adattò agli standard delle altre major il 12 ottobre 2010.
In via sperimentale, Delta aveva già servito pasti su alcuni voli da New York alla California nei mesi di novembre e dicembre 2016. Sui voli mattutini, i passeggeri potranno scegliere fra Honey Maple Breakfast Sandwich, un Breakfast Medley, o un piatto di frutta e formaggi; per pranzo e cena la scelta sarà fra un panino al tacchino, un Mediterranean Whole Grain Veggie Wrap, o frutta e formaggi; sui voli notturni sarà servita una colazione prima dell’atterraggio.
