Stavo valutando un po' i prezzi per un volo che vorrei fare e ho visto che,più o meno, Monarch Airlines e Ryanair sono sullo stesso prezzo. Secondo voi quale delle 2 low cost è migliore? Io ho volato spessissimo con Ryanair e mi sono sempre trovato bene. Ora sarei tentato di provare Monarch, vorrei però avere qualche opinione da qualcuno che l'ha già provata.

Monarch non è una low cost, ma è specializzata in charter dal Regno Unito (soprattutto da Manchester) verso le destinazioni più popolari del Mediterraneo (soprattutto Spagna e Grecia, non si vede moltissimo da noi). Se dovessi scegliere tra Monarch e Ryanair sceglierei anche io la prima: Ryanair l'ho già presa più volte - e sottolineo che anche io mi ci sono sempre trovato bene

Nel caso riuscirò a fare quel volo e se i prezzi saranno sempre concorrenziali con Ryanair sceglierò sicuramente Monarch.

Sempre la stessa storia Ryanair o altre, ma nessono obbliga a prenderla i viaggi durano al massimo 3 ore (credo) e si puo spendere solo per il viaggio non cose extra e si riesce ad avere dei prezzi convenienti molte volte meno di altre che volano sulla stessa tratta, poi c'è sempre quello che contesta che dice di no, ma in molti viaggi che ho fatto quello che costava di meno era loro mi importava solo andare in quella località non chi mi faceva il sorrisino e mi trattava con i guanti bianchi.

"The new non-reclining design gives our customers far more 'living space' than traditional seats, without the fear of the person in front impinging on their personal space.
"We noted from customer feedback that seat storage is particularly important. The new seats offer more flexibility than traditional 'pockets', using the concept of the bungee cord the storage area can now comfortably fit water bottles, jackets and even kids' toys.
"The innovative tablet holder also enables our customers to create their own personal in-flight entertainment system."

Monarch Airlines has confirmed it will cease all remaining charter services from next summer, and will also drop flights from East Midlands airport.
The UK carrier is currently carrying out a strategic review, covering “all areas of the business from operations to ownership and financing”, with several media outlets reporting that up to 1,000 jobs could be lost and long-haul services ditched.
Monarch has yet to confirm these reports, but a press release states that the carrier will “move completely to scheduled flying from summer 2015, as it continues its transformation to become a scheduled European low-cost carrier”.
The airline said that scheduled services now account for 85 per cent of its flying, and admitted that “the continuation of charter services is now incompatible with operating the efficient schedule that Monarch is planning for the future”.
It added that some of its remaining charter routes “may become part of the airline’s scheduled programme for summer 2015”.
In 2011 Monarch announced it was cancelling its order for six Boeing Dreamliner aircraft, citing a decision to focus on short-haul operations (see news September 2011). The carrier is set to take delivery of 30 Boeing B737 Max 8 aircraft from 2018.
In recent years the carrier has gone head-to-head with established low-cost airlines Easyjet and Ryanair, on scheduled routes including London Gatwick to Barcelona.
The Luton-based airline has also confirmed it will cease flights from East Midlands by the end of April 2015. In a statement Monarch said that it would continue to offer services from its base at Birmingham airport, located around 40 miles from East Midlands.
According to The Derby Telegraph Ryanair will next year increase frequencies on selected routes from East Midlands currently served by both Monarch and Ryanair, and will also add a new route to Malta (currently operated by Monarch).
Earlier this year Monarch announced plans to introduce non-reclining seats across its fleet (see news May 30).

E dopo tanto inglese due parole in italiano: nonostante il nome e la sede in Gran Bretagna Monarch è di proprietà della Globus, ex agenzia di viaggi di Lugano e ora insieme di società di vario tipo. La proprietà è dunque totalmente svizzera, in particolare del luganese Sergio Mantegazza. E' di ieri la notizia che Mantegazza sarebbe in procinto di vendere la compagnia, risanata nel passato con 120 milioni di sterline ma che avrebbe, cito le informazioni dei giornali, un futuro non proprio facile. Boeing and Monarch Airlines today finalized an order for 30 737 MAX 8s worth more than $3.2 billion at current list prices.

The 737 MAX has accumulated 2,325 orders to date from 48 customers and is the fastest selling airplane in Boeing history.
"The 737 MAX is the perfect airplane for Monarch as it moves its business model from a traditional charter carrier to a European scheduled leisure airline, offering improved efficiencies, high reliability and an outstanding passenger experience," said Todd Nelp, vice president of European Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The 737 MAX incorporates the latest technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. The 737 MAX will be 14 percent more fuel-efficient than today's most efficient Next-Generation 737s – and 20 percent better than the original Next-Generation 737s when they first entered service. The 737 MAX 8 will have an 8 percent per seat operating cost advantage over the A320neo.

La famiglia Mantegazza ha venduto la sua linea aerea, la britannica Monarch Airlines, al fondo londinese Greybull, che ha messo sul piatto circa 190 milioni di franchi.
Da qualche tempo la compagnia era difficoltà. Negli ultimi cinque anni i Mantegazza avevano tappato i buchi finanziari sborsando 180 milioni di franchi.
Tutto iniziò nel 1968, in un mercato dell'aviazione in pieno fermento grazie ai voli charter che portavano in massa i turisti britannici sulle coste del Mediterraneo. Per molto tempo Monarch è stato sinonimo di vacanze per numerosi britannici. Ma i tempi cambiano e quello che poteva andare bene quarant'anni fa, ora fatica a trovare spazio. La flotta verrà ora ridimensionata passando da 42 a 34 aerei e verranno eliminate alcune destinazioni, concentrandosi sull'Europa.
Monarch diventerà una compagnia low-cost e l'obiettivo della nuova proprietà è chiaro: tarpare le ali Ryanair e Easyjet.
