AIRFRANCE to Start A380 Scheduled Service to Abidjan from late-Oct 2014

AIRFRANCE in Winter 2014/15 season is to start A380 scheduled operations on Paris CDG – Abidjan route, the airline has announced. The A380 aircraft will operate from 26OCT14, on 3 of 10 weekly service.

Emirates to Start A380 Service to Dallas from October 2014

Starting 01OCT14, Emirates will begin Airbus A380 operations on Dubai – Dallas service on daily basis, replacing Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. This represents an increase of 83% in terms of capacity.

Reservation for the A380 service opens today.

Primo A380 per Etihad. A differenza degli altri esemplari, la coda di questo aereo non e' stata verniciata. Voci su Airliners.net parlano di una possibile nuova livrea per Etihad. O forse lo vedremo in livrea Alitalia (scherzo ovviamente).

Dai mettiamo in giro la voce che se l'affare va in porto, AZ fara' MXP-BUE con A380 'prestati' da EY e 'vediamo di nascosto l'effetto che fa' :)

Singapore Airlines starting 30MAY14 will begin Airbus A380 service to India, where it’ll operate daily Singapore – Delhi and Singapore – Mumbai route. As a result of the introduction of A380 operation, SIA will reduce overall operations on both routes, from 3 to 2 daily. SIA is scheduled to be the first A380 operator to operate the Super Jumbo to India.

During the 2014/2015 winter schedule from October 26, 2014 until March 28, 2015, Air France will deploy the A380 on three weekly rotations between its Paris hub and Abdijan.

Air France has confirmed that Abidjan, the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, will be the second destination in Africa to be served by its Airbus A380 fleet after successfully operating a one-time service to the city’s Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in January 2014 to mark the hosting of the International Forum for Investments in the city. The European flag carrier already uses the Super Jumbo on its Paris – Johannesburg route.
During the 2014/2015 winter schedule from October 26, 2014 until March 28, 2015, Air France will deploy the A380 on three weekly rotations between its Paris hub and Abdijan. The route will be flown on a daily basis and the remaining four flights will be operated, as present, by a Boeing 777-300. The flight operates during daylight hours to Africa and returns to Europe overnight.
The use of 516-seat (9 seats in La Première, 80 seats in Business, 38 seats in Premium Economy and 389 seats in Economy) A380 into the country will boost seat capacity in an important market for Air France. With a strong level of growth, the Côte d’Ivoire aims to become the main hub and gateway to West Africa, a market representing over 300 million inhabitants.
The news is no real surprise as when Air France announced its one-time A380 charter to Abidjan it revealed its intention to serve the African destination with the type on a scheduled basis. As our analysis below highlights, bi-directional O&D demand between Paris and Abidjan increased by almost a quarter in 2013 (up 23.5 per cent versus 2012) but traffic levels are still down on the peak years between 2006 and 2009 when traffic exceeded 200,000 bi-directional O&D passengers.

British Airways (tramite bocca di Willie Walsh) pare sia molto felice delle performance del 380:

"The airline is operating the A380 to cities including Johannesburg, Los Angeles and Singapore, with new routes to include Hong Kong, as well as Washington.Walsh said he’s “very pleased” with the superjumbo. “Customers like the aircraft and it’s performing slightly ahead of what we expected,” he said."
