Hi gents,
as it seems that most of the people went through Zeltweg and even Reims Airshow, my family and decide to make a trip to Northern France.
We went to BA 103 "Cdt René Mouchotte" @ Cambrai-Epinoy, were we visit a friend of us, who is there as a GAF Exchange pilot ( EC 01/012 "Cambresis" ) on the well known
Mirage Deux Mille since two years, and we were able to capture the first flights of the brandnew fly-out jet of the EC 02/012 "Picardie" and even shoot
some Tiger´s during day and also night training sorties too.
When we arrived during lunch 103-LD / 117 adorned with a splendid special c/s which had the roll-out Tuesday June 23, 2009, just arrived from a training flight.
Unfortunately the EC 02/012 will be disbanded by end of this week, therefore one of the Mirage 2000C received that stunning special c/s.
Both sqdns will remain into one sqdn and a new sqdn badge will be the result, hope the "tiger-stuff" will be still in it!
During my visit they flew from both Rwy directions ( Rwy 10 & Rwy 28 ) and had also nightflying on Thursday evebing with 8 M.2000C, what was also the main
reason for my visit.
To capture them also during night, and when I say night, it was absolutely night...as the last 2-ship mission depart 2300 local!
On Friday , June 26, 2009 the special colored M.2000C of EC 02/012 "Picardie" flew straigt to Reims, were on that weekend a airshow took place were maybe also a
few of you guys have been too!
As we stayed inside the base we had also the opportunity to "shoot" also both gate guards which have been:
88 Super Mystere B2 near main gate as "124/12-YA"
154/12-YA Super Mystere B2 in front of EC 01/012 ops bldg.
Both are in a very good shape, as the rest of the base too, but unfortunately Cambrai will be closed by end of 2012!!!
Flying activity is really good at Cambrai, as they flew the whole day from o8oo local in the morning till late night without a break as its normaly the procedure here in Germany....
Also we had the pleasure to witness a last - flight from one of the EC 02/012 pilots when they flew also a 6-ship formation for his last flight, after reaching more as 4200 flight hours on that day.... well done "TRANCH"!
All in all we spend two interesting and funny days at Cambrai and we are really looking forward to be back at Cambrai soon... to be continued!
