Lufthansa has announced its First Airbus A380 flight is to be World Cup charter on Frankfurt – Johannesburg service, on 06JUN10.
Previously mentioned on 23MAR10, the special flight is operating as LH2010, but was tentatively scheduled to be operated by Airbus A340-600.

New Lufthansa flagship to show the flag at a number of airports in early June
Before the first of Lufthansa’s A380s flies the German team to Johannesburg for the Football World Cup on Sunday, 6 June, Lufthansa pilots will carry out numerous flights with the brand new flagship in the Lufthansa fleet. After about a month’s training in the A380 simulator, the flights - with no passengers on board - are required as part of the qualifications for pilots to acquire a licence to fly this aircraft type. In addition to take-offs and landings, the flight tuition includes line training on scheduled routes to prepare the pilots to operate scheduled services for the airline with the A380.
Provided the weather conditions are good and allow the training flights to go ahead, the A380, named “Frankfurt am Main“, will be seen at the following airports:
Monday, 31 May
Full-day flight training at Karlsruhe Airport.
Tuesday, 1 June
Full-day flight training at Leipzig Airport.
Wednesday, 2 June
Line training on the Frankfurt – Stuttgart – Zürich – Vienna – Dresden – Linz – Munich – Frankfurt routes.
Thursday, 3 June
Line training on the Frankfurt – Berlin-Tegel – Hanover – Hamburg – Bremen – Dusseldorf – Cologne/Bonn – Frankfurt routes.
The first Airbus A380 is scheduled for delivery to Lufthansa on 19 May, when it will be named ”Frankfurt am Main“.
Note to editors: Information on local press events will be released in good time prior to the individual training dates (there will be no opportunity to fly on the aircraft).

Lufthansa's Airbus A380 aircraft are to be configured with 526 seats, the second-highest density arrangement of the type so far.
While the German flag-carrier had initially signalled a figure of 550, a source familiar with the A380 operation says this has been reduced.
Eight first-class seats will be part of the configuration. First- and business-class seats will be on the upper deck, economy-class on the lower.
Only Air France has equipped its A380s with a higher-density arrangement, at 538 seats.
Lufthansa will shortly unveil its initial revenue routes for the aircraft. The first example is due to be delivered on 19 May.

The carrier was due to receive the aircraft in December 2010, and a spokeswoman says that the delay is due to problems with the Airbus assembly line.
KAL has ordered 10 A380 jets that are due to arrive by 2014. The spokeswoman says that there is no delay in the delivery of the remaining nine aircraft.
The airline plans to operate its first A380 to the USA, with Los Angeles likely to be the inaugural destination.

comunque ancora niente di ufficiale sulle destinazioni? Io presumo i primi voli possano essere FRA-JFK e FRA-NRT...
Mi dispiace kenya, nulla di ufficiale. Noi sappiamo gia' qualcosa ma ovviamente non lo possiamo dire. Ad ogni modo ci sara' qualcosa di atteso e qualcosa di inatteso!

si si lo so che non puoi dire nulla (GIUSTAMENTE)... sul qualcosa di inaspettato adesso però mi hai fatto venire delle curiosità..mhmm..adesso vado a vedermi qualche operativo sul Long-Haul LH dove potrebbe essere interessante introdurre il 380...

Di preciso non lo so, potrebbero anche essere enti o organizzazioni statali. In ogni caso e' un servizio commerciale venduto da una societa' ad un cliente.
