Hi gents,

In occasion with the forthcoming inspection of the 50 years anniversary Tornado ECR ( 46+23 ) of the JBG 32 , we traveled Thursday to Bavaria, as the wx forecast was more as good for yesterday.

And as the planning for this shooting lasts already since last October and due to weather and other factors, yesterday evening was the last opportunity to shoot the Tornado ECR, before it will be flown to maintenance to Manching and this results in loosing the special c/s forever......
So my decision was easy...driving down to Lechfeld in the morning and returning home afterwards, so we spent 8,5 hrs driving back and for and almost 850 km - but it was more as worth, and a last chance forever to shoot this beauty!
When we arrived yesterday we found out that for the 200 hrs flight inspection both external fuel tanks have been removed, and luckily we could convince the maintenance crews to mount them again under the wings....thanks must go to Jürgen and everyone involved, and of course my host unit the JaboG 32, and all the air and ground crews that worked hard to prepare the specially adorned Tornado ECR, and make this shooting to happen..... from illuminate the jet, technicians who were responsible for switching on all lights on the Tornado ECR, etc. and everyone did an extraordinary job!!!

Here you will find my personal highlights from that visit yesterday at Lechfeld, as the special colored 46+23 was my main focus during this visit off course.
All the hard work has paid off, and the results are these great images.
And with all the snow in Lechfeld, as we had off the runway and taxiway, up to 30 cm of snow, it was a great scenery.... and as there was still a bit of spare time, we spent some time to shoot some locals before the nighshooting started.

Unfortuantely in less then two weeks this jet is history, and the splendid c/s will be gone, and it will be only flying once, when it will be the last flight in special colors to Manching.Until then it will be in maitenance...

Ok enough of my blabla, and the impressions will tell the rest of the story.
More will follow.......still working on lots of images from Thursday.

As always c & c are more as welcome, and thanks for watching

Cheers,
Mick

Good morning gents,

thanks once again for all your comments and off course I will have some further shots from last Thursday @ Lechfeld, as we had also as already mentioned time to "shoot" some locals too.
Luckily due to lots of snow on the ground, especially during the landing shots the belly is really bright, which is quite nice.....
So lay back and enjoy the next batch of pictures..... thumbsup
Cheers
Mick

Close-up during run-up.....

Ex-Navy Tornado IDS on final Rwy 21

46+35 on final...seems as the backseater has some probs with the lower sun.....

Formation after low fly-by.....

Gears retract and go......

Single-engine heavy weight approach....

ECR in new grey c/s.... looks nice with the belly so bright due to snow on the ground...

And here are my last nightshots....still impressed by the reults on my own, as the wx was brilliant that evening....

Tiger tail in detail....

View from below......

View from the rear....nice angle

My personal favourite shot, taken from the top of the Tornado crew ladder. I have add the JBG 32 wing badge to this picture.....

Congratulations for your sxceptional shots Mick... thanks a lot for all...!!!! I expecially like the one with the JBG 32 wing badge added to the left of the shot... surely a great artistic idea in my opinion... ;)

Andrea.
