Genova. Oggi 11 aprile è partita l’attività della base Volotea di Genova, la quarta in Italia dopo Venezia, Verona e Palermo e la nona in Europa, con il decollo del primo volo della base con destinazione Catania.
Alla cerimonia di presentazione della base erano presenti il Presidente della compagnia Carlos Munoz, il Presidente di Aeroporto di Genova Marco Arato ed il Presidente della Regione Liguria Giovanni Toti.
La base di Genova, coma ha raccontato il presidente e fondatore della compagnia Munoz, già ideatore della low cost Vueling, vedrà basati stabilmente due aeromobili (Boeing 717 al momento) e fa seguito ad un costante aumento di rotte e di traffico generato nell’aeroporto genovese dall’arrivo di Volotea nel 2012.
In particolare i due aerei basati permetteranno un incremento nelle frequenze di alcune rotte già operate a Genova e l’introduzione di 6 nuove rotte europee (Santorini, Palma di Maiorca, Minorca, Atene, Ibiza e Vienna), con un’offerta di 360.000 posti complessivi per l’anno 2017, che produrranno 50 nuovi posti di lavoro diretti. Tutte le rotte sono già in vendita.
Il presidente Munoz ha descritto la mission di Volotea, che è quella di collegare città medio piccole tra di loro, direttamente, ed ha raccontato come tale idea fosse maturata già durante la sua precedente esperienza in Vueling, con il desiderio di dare vita a quella che lui stesso ha definito una “non hub company”, alla ricerca di “rotte che non esistevano”.
Carlos Munoz si è detto molto soddisfatto dell’andamento della compagnia, con un fatturato in costante crescita stimato per l’anno corrente in 310 milioni ed un considerevole aumento di passeggeri trasportati dai 3,4 M del 2016 ai 4,3 M previsti per il 2017. Il presidente ha sottolineato come in ogni aeroporto in cui la compagnia sbarca diviene la compagnia maggiormente importante in termine di rotte servite, e così sarà anche per Genova, con un numero complessivo di 13 rotte.
Particolarmente interessante a parere di chi scrive è stato il passaggio in cui il presidente di Volotea ha fatto espresso riferimento ad un secondo step in cui verranno proposte rotte incoming. Non sfugge infatti che il primo lotto di proposte internazionali di Volotea sia costituito da rotte prevalentemente (se non esclusivamente) di tipo leisure outcoming, dunque per portare i Liguri in vacanza e non per alimentare i flussi turistici in entrata, obbiettivo che invece deve essere fondamentale per Aeroporto di Genova e per le istituzioni locali.
Munoz ha spiegato che la politica di Volotea è quella dei piccoli passi, partendo in sordina per ottenere crescite progressive, ma salde, negli aeroporti in cui mette radici, ed in tale ottica deve essere letta la scelta delle prime rotte attivate e le frequenze non particolarmente importanti: “prima riempiamo questi aerei, poi aggiungiamo frequenze, rotte ed aerei”.
La flotta Volotea al momento è composta da 28 aeromobili, ripartiti in 18 Boeing B717 ed in 10 Airbus 319, ma il numero uno di Volotea ha dato notizia che entro 3/5 anni sarà completata la transizione ad una flotta all Airbus, con l’uscita di scena dei B717 che sono stati i primi aerei entrati in flotta V7 con il lancio del marchio. Tutti gli aerei sono in leasing con durata decennale.
Molto interessante, inoltre, è stato l’intervento del Presidente della Regione Liguria Giovanni Toti, che ha evidenziato la necessità per la Regione di uscire dal proprio isolamento, prima di tutto infrastrutturale, e di spingere molto per lo sviluppo dei collegamenti tra la città ed il resto dell’Italia e dell’Europa, garantendo il pieno appoggio della regione nei confronti dell’aeroporto e della compagnia che ha deciso di investire proprio a Genova, nonostante la concorrenza di altre città che si erano proposte come candidate per una base Volotea.
Nulla è stato detto in conferenza stampa in merito agli accordi commerciali tra la società di gestione dell’aeroporto e Volotea, mentre il Presidente di Aeroporto di Genova, Marco Arato, ha ricordato gli importanti investimenti che sono in corso per un ammodernamento della aerostazione, che è già iniziato e dovrebbe concludersi nel 2020 con l’inaugurazione del nuovo corpo di fabbrica, e si è detto molto fiducioso per una lunga e proficua collaborazione tra GOA e Volotea.
