E’ notizia di questi giorni l’annuncio da parte di Mitsubishi Heavy Industries di un ulteriore ritardo che porterà la prima consegna del MRJ al cliente di lancio ANA al 2020.
Si tratta del quinto annuncio di ritardo del programma (le cui consegne a ANA erano inizialmente previste nel 2013), che inoltre ha dichiarato costi di sviluppo incrementati di circa il 30%, arrivando a 5,3 miliardi di dollari.
Alla base del ritardo, la revisione della configurazione di alcuni sistemi di bordo per soddisfare i più recenti requisiti di certificazione.
Tali revisioni, secondo quanto dichiarato da Mitsubishi, non comporteranno alcuna variazione nelle performance del velivolo e tantomeno nella struttura dell’aeromobile, che ha già passato con i test strutturali statici, sopportando con successo carichi del 150%.
Al di là del disappunto che questo significativo ritardo porterà ai propri clienti, ANA e SkyWest in primis, questi ulteriori due anni richiesti per lo sviluppo peggiorano il posizionamento del MRJ rispetto all’agguerrito settore dei Regional Jet, compromettendone potenzialmente le prospettive commerciali.
Sia ANA che l’americana Skywest (quest’ultima vanta ordini più opzioni pari a 200 MRJ 90), hanno comunque confermato il proprio sostegno al programma.
Una iniziale caduta delle azioni Mitsubishi Heavy Industries alla borsa di Tokyo è stata poi riassorbita nei giorni seguenti, tornando vicina ai livelli pre-annuncio.
