easyJet chief Johan Lundgren cuts pay to match predecessor
EasyJet's chief executive Johan Lundgren is reducing his salary by £34,000 to match that of his predecessor Carolyn McCall.
Mr Lundgren's starting annual salary was £740,000, while Ms McCall was on £706,000 when she left the budget airline in November.
He was previously a deputy chief executive at travel group Tui.
EasyJet was "absolutely committed" to giving equal pay and equal opportunity for women and men, said Mr Lundgren.
"To show my personal commitment I have asked the board to reduce my pay to match that of Carolyn's when she was at EasyJet," he added.
"I also want to affirm my own commitment to address the gender imbalance in our pilot community which drives our overall gender pay gap."
Female pilots
The gender pay gap in EasyJet is currently 51.7%, but the budget airline says this is not because of unequal pay for women.
Salaries for pilots and cabin crew are collectively agreed with unions and both men and women are paid the same.
The gender pay gap comes in because there are far fewer female pilots than male pilots in the industry as a whole - only 4% of commercial pilots are women, and only 5% of EasyJet's pilots are women.
The budget carrier has set a target that 20% of new pilots should be female by 2020, up from 6% in 2015.
Earlier this month, EasyJet reported a 14.4% jump in revenues to £1.1bn for the three months to 31 December, with passenger numbers up 8% to 18.8 million in the period.

The budget airline carried 5,159,860 passengers last month, up from 4,745,630 in January 2017.
Its load factor also improved by 2.2%, raising from 86.2% to 88.4%.
Passenger numbers, rolling for the last 12 months, were up 9.5% to 82,048,573 from 74,921,296 with an increased load factor of 93.2%, up from 91.5%.
easyJet says its passenger numbers are in line with expectations, and that it will release further details in its half year results on May 15.

Vedo messa male Volotea (in concorenza diretta su molte rotte) che ha pompato i prezzi estivi già alla pubblicazione.
Ieri U2 ha annunciato un'estensione del progetto "Worldwide by easyJet", il sistema "fai da te" di connessioni di U2 con alcuni vettori partner, ad altri 7 aeroporti, tra cui Venezia.
Inizialmente implementato a LGW successivamente esteso anche a MXP progressivamente si allarga a nuovi scali.
Per quello lagunare, come per Tegel, ancora da annunciare il/i vettore/i partner.

easyJet extends ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ to seven airports and adds new connections airline partners

easyJet, Europe's leading airline, has today announced that it is extending its ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ connections platform to Berlin Tegel, Venice Marco Polo, Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris Charles De Gaulle and Orly and Edinburgh airports. This means that, combined with the connections already announced through London Gatwick and Milan Malpensa, over half of the airline’s flights – and 53 million easyJet customers a year - will be able to connect to airline partner services and other easyJet flights in a single booking through easyJet’s digital booking portal.
easyJet has also brought new connecting airlines onto the ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ booking platform and has today also announced partnerships with Thomas Cook Airlines at Gatwick meaning easyJet customers can now travel as far as the Caribbean or to the USA, Africa and the Indian Ocean with La Compagnie and Corsair who will both fly from Paris Orly.
easyJet’s existing relationship with WestJet and Norwegian will enable the airlines to offer long haul connectivity at more of Europe’s biggest hub airports – Norwegian will extend connecting services from Paris Charles De Gaulle and Paris Orly in the coming weeks, from Amsterdam Schiphol in the summer when the airline launches its service to New York from the Dutch capital and also from Edinburgh. Meanwhile easyJet’s existing relationship with Loganair will allow easyJet customers to connect to the highlands and Islands via Edinburgh.

‘Worldwide by easyJet’ is the first global airline connections service by a European low fares airline. Legacy airlines have traditionally offered connectivity through costly and complex interline and codeshare agreements and procedures. With Worldwide by easyJet these will be replicated by self-connect and sales partnerships through a digital, virtual hub which will offer the same sort of connectivity but more simply and efficiently.
easyJet has leadership positions at more of Europe’s major airports and flies on more of Europe’s 100 largest routes than any other airline which makes it the most attractive European short haul airline partner. The introduction of this disruptive product opens up new 70m market segment for easyJet.
All of this connectivity has been enabled by technology partner Dohop whose innovative platform allows easyJet customers to book connections and forward flights on easyJet.com. Worldwide by easyJet will also allow easyJet passengers to connect with other easyJet flights through partner airports.
Worldwide by easyJet does not impact easyJet’s punctuality, its asset utilisation or operating model. The airline will not hold flights for connecting passengers. Worldwide by easyJet is subject to a 2 hour 30 minute ‘Minimum Connection Time’, which will give customers plenty of time to transfer between flights and/or terminals. Should a passenger miss a connecting flight they will be transferred to the next available flight.

In alcuni articoli emergono anche altri dettagli in più. Pare che ad oggi la combinazione che ha utilizzato maggiormente il "Worldwide by U2" sia stata la FCO-(LGW)-ORD, anche se non si forniscono numeri in termini assoluti.
Inizialmente implementato a LGW successivamente esteso anche a MXP progressivamente si allarga a nuovi scali.
Per quello lagunare, come per Tegel, ancora da annunciare il/i vettore/i partner.

Bella espansione del servizio, al netto dei limiti di cui si è già discusso (MCT molto lungo, niente interline dei bagagli etc.). Sono curioso di sapere con quali vettori coopereranno a TXL e VCE.
A TXL, escludendo Eurowings, sarebbe ipotizzabile un accordo con Germania per varie destinazioni in Turchia, Grecia, Spagna ed Egitto. Sul lungo raggio vedrei bene anche Scoot per SIN, che parte proprio quest'estate.
Inoltre, al Terminal C (dal quale vola U2) per i passeggeri con solo bagaglio a mano in teoria dovrebbe essere possibile prendere una connessione senza rifare i controlli. Dato il MCT di 2h30, però, si potrebbe fare già ora senza Worldwide by easyJet, naturalmente senza la garanzia di riprotezione.

@venexiano: hai ragione sul tempo minimo tra le connessioni, ma parti dal fatto che il servizio è stato implementato per offrire a coloro che utilizzavano una connessione fai da te senza alcuna garanzia di riuscita. E, a quanto pare sono in molti negli aeroporti maggiori.
Potrebbero anche essere solo connessioni easyJet<>easyJet sfruttando i domestici.. per esempio sud italia/nord europa via VCE.

Sono sicuro che Skyscanner puo' fare di meglio che decidere di limitarsi a un segmento solo per arrivare a tali conclusioni. Queste statistiche sono a mio avviso limitanti.
U2 (come BA e le altre) applica tariffe diverse per la scelta del medesimo posto su tratte diverse.
Trovo infatti le "seat charges" che U2 utilizza da LGW meno convenienti di quelle di BA ad esempio.
Analisi riduttiva ma nel complesso interessante per carita'.
